The two teams meet at Lusail Stadium on Monday, November 28.

In the US, FOX and Telemundo will be showing the match and kick off is at 14:00 EST and 11:00 PT.

Portugal works on the same time zone as the UK so supporters hoping to watch them in their home nation will have to tune in at 19:00. Meanwhile, in Uruguay, kick off will be at 16:00.

Team news

Cristiano Ronaldo was dealing with an illness heading into the tournament but he banished any doubts over his fitness when he became the first man to score at five World Cup finals. Elsewhere, Otavio had to be withdrawn with a knock in the 56th minute so he might have to sit out of this one.

Uruguay came through their first game against South Korea unscathed but Luis Suarez could only manage just over an hour. He may well drop out for the second game with Edinson Cavani — fresh off a good run of form with Valencia — waiting to lead the line.

Predicted line-ups

Portugal (4-2-3-1): Costa, Cancelo, Dias, Pereira, Guerreiro; Neves, Carvalho; (Bernardo) Silva, Fernandes, Felix; Ronaldo.

Uruguay (4-3-3): Rochet, Caceres, Godin, Gimenez, Olivera; Vecino, Bentancur, Valverde; Pellistri, Cavani, Nunez.

Last time out

Portugal were just able to come away from their opening game with all three points.

Ronaldo opened the scoring from the penalty spot but the lead lasted less than 10 minutes as Andre Ayew hit back for Ghana. Joao Felix and Rafael Leao quickly made it 3-1 but there was still time for drama.

Osman Bukari made it 3-2 in the 89th minute before Inaki Williams slipped at the vital moment when he nicked the ball from the feet of Diogo Costa. Portugal held on and moved top of Group H.

Uruguay, on the other hand, were disappointing in their first game. They were not able to assert their dominance over South Korea and played out a rather drab goalless draw.

Players carrying yellow cards

Portugal: Danilo Pereira, Bruno Fernandes.

Uruguay: Martin Caceres.

What’s at stake?

A place in the last 16 will await Portugal if they beat Uruguay here.

The result wouldn’t quite end the South Americans’ tournament as they face Ghana in their last match but it would leave them facing an uphill battle.

A draw would be quite helpful for the two sides given the fixtures they still have to play but both will be desperate for all three points.

It’s hardly surprising to see that Ronaldo dominated the headlines on Thursday while Uruguay’s steel shone through more than anything else in their bore draw with South Korea.
