Former Louisville wide receiver Tyler Harrell announced Friday that he'll transfer to Alabama. He's the Crimson Tide's fifth transfer portal addition this offseason, joining Jermaine Burton (Georgia) as the second wide receiver in the group.

Originally from Miami, the 6-foot, 197-pound Harrell spent four years with the Cardinals and caught 18 passes for 532 yards and six touchdowns in 2021. He has been clocked at 4.24 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

Harrell was ranked No. 7 on The Athletic's list of best available transfers and has two years of eligibility remaining.

Alabama lost its top three wide receivers to the NFL Draft in Jameson Williams, John Metchie and Slade Bolden, and Agiye Hall recently announced he is transferring to Texas.

Why did Alabama pursue Harrell?

Aaron Suttles, Alabama beat writer: Spring practice revealed Alabama needs more consistency and more speed at wide receiver. It got a speed injection Friday when Harrell announced his commitment.

Harrell averaged 29.1 yards per reception in 2021 for the Cardinals. Six of his 18 receptions went for touchdowns and nine went for at least 30 yards. He also has some kick return experience as well. Suddenly, Alabama's rebuilding receiving corps seems in good hands with Harrell and Burton providing an experienced lift as transfers.
