The Tampa Bay Lightning will visit the White House and U.S. President Joe Biden on Monday to celebrate their 2020 and 2021 Stanley Cup championships.
Monday's visit will be the franchise's first-ever visit to the White House to celebrate a Stanley Cup championship win. The team was unable to visit the White House to celebrate their last two Cup wins due to COVID-19 concerns, while the 2004-05 NHL lockout kept them from celebrating their 2004 victory, the team's first-ever Stanley Cup win, with then-U.S. President George W. Bush.

The Lightning are scheduled to play Sunday night in Sunrise against the Florida Panthers before traveling to Washington, D.C. on Monday. Following their White House visit, the Lightning will go to Columbus where they will play the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
The Lightning are aiming to win a third consecutive championship this season. It is an accomplishment that only three other franchises, the Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders and Toronto Maple Leafs, have done.
