Dani Alves, 38, earns Brazil recall – two years after his last appearance

Dani Alves has earned a recall to the Brazil squad at the age of 38.

The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain defender has impressed for Sau Paolo in his native country and will now be part of Tite's squad for their World Cup 2022 qualifiers in June.

Brazil take on Ecuador and Paraguay next month.

When did Alves last play for Brazil?

The right-back last played for his country in October 2019. Earlier that year, he impressed at the Copa America.

Alves was given the Golden Ball award, which is dished out to the best player at the competition.

What has been said?

Head coach Tite hailed Alves after picking him for the squad. "Alves is in a good moment and has a great history with the national team," Tite said.

"In qualifying matches for the World Cup there is no time for recovery and he is playing at his physical peak.

"He has great leadership skills and that's very good for the group."

What has Alves achieved as a player?

Alves is one of the most decorated players in the history of the game, having collected 41 trophies in his career.

He won the Champions League three times and La Liga six times with Barcelona.

While playing for PSG, he won Ligue 1 twice and the Coupe de France once.
