The fire took place on Friday evening and Merseyside Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident which saw scaffolding and plastic netting pitchside being set alight.

What is significant about the stadium?

The club moved into the ground shortly before the first lockdown in 2020.

The site is shared with five other stakeholders, including Liverpool County FA, a local school and Lifestyles Fitness Centre.

Development is ongoing and the capacity will be up to 2,200 seats upon completion.

How have the club performed this season?

The club currently sit fifth in the Women’s Super League and will be hoping to test Emma Hayes’ league leaders on Wednesday following an emphatic 4-0 win against Birmingham this week.
