Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson will go on the 10-day injury list, manager Aaron Boone said Friday, after he exited Wednesday’s game against the Phillies with right hamstring tightness. Here’s what you need to know:
- Donaldson, 37, said he felt the hamstring tighten up as he ran to first after flying out.
- He was replaced in the field at third by Isiah Kiner-Falefa in the third inning.
- The former MVP Donaldson was batting .133 with one home run heading into Wednesday’s game.

What’s the concern level?
Donaldson spoke to a group of reporters in the Yankees clubhouse after the game, saying he thought it was “probably best to not push it any further” after feeling the tightness. Manager Aaron Boone said he didn’t think Donaldson’s injury was “too severe.”
As it stands, DJ LeMahieu seems the most likely stand-in at third base until Donaldson is healthy again. Kiner-Falefa and Oswaldo Cabrera could also factor in. — Kuty
