The Boston Bruins have signed Elias Lindholm to a seven-year, $52.5 million contract, per league sources. Lindholm, 29, fills the Bruins’ need at center. The right-shot Lindholm scored 42 goals and 40 assists in 82 games for the Calgary Flames in 2022-23.
Lindholm could be the Bruins’ No. 1 center, perhaps alongside David Pastrnak. The Bruins could move Pavel Zacha to left wing. This would allow Charlie Coyle to center the No. 2 line with Brad Marchand and Trent Frederic on his flanks. Morgan Geekie and Matt Poitras would be in the running to center the No. 3 line.

The Canucks thought highly enough of Lindholm to send their 2024 first-round pick, Andrei Kuzmenko, Hunter Brzustewicz, Joni Jurmo and a 2024 fourth-rounder to Calgary for the three-zone center. Lindholm did not have the impact the Canucks projected. In 26 games, Lindholm scored six goals and six assists while averaging 17:42 of ice time per appearance.
Lindholm was originally the No. 5 pick in 2013.
