Switzerland have confirmed that three computers belonging to members of the team’s coaching staff have been stolen at a hotel in Dusseldorf.

The team, who are based in Stuttgart, said preparation for their European Championship last 16 match against Italy has not been impacted as no sensitive data was lost.

Switzerland finished second in Group A — a stoppage-time equaliser from Germany in their final group game denied Murat Yakin’s side top spot — and will play Italy, runners-up in Group B, in Berlin on Saturday at 5pm BST.

The nation’s preparations for the match have not been comprised by three computers being stolen from a hotel in Dusseldorf where a delegation of junior national team coaches were staying as part of their remit to observe other Euro 2024 matches.

The information on the computers was not related to Switzerland’s data preparation and tactical information, which is compiled by video analysts who are with the national team at their Stuttgart base.

The junior coaches have been assigned by the Swiss Football Association to analyse tactical trends and development in the tournament.

Switzerland opened their campaign with a 3-1 victory over Hungary, before drawing 1-1 against both Scotland and Germany to finish their group stage unbeaten on five points.
