State Highlights
Senator Ron Wyden, a Democrat and an expert on health policy who likes to work with Republicans when possible, easily won re-election, defeating his Republican challenger, Jim Huffman, a law school professor.
On Wednesday evening, the governor’s race remained undecided. John A. Kitzhaber, a Democrat and former emergency room physician, was hoping that votes still to be tallied from Multnomah County (Portland) would erase the slim lead held by Chris Dudley, a Republican and former professional basketball player.
Mr. Kitzhaber, who was making a bid for the office he held from 1995 to 2003, said Mr. Dudley had “no meaningful experience” and no record of public service.
Mr. Dudley, a wealth management adviser, said he would reignite job growth by cutting the state’s capital gains tax and creating a business-friendly climate.
All five House members from Oregon, four Democrats and one Republican, won re-election.
