Edit; Breville has come back and said that they will be sending me a new toaster oven, I did have to do $195 hold on my credit card until they get the old toaster oven back in the mail. They are giving me a UPS shipping code so that is also covered. I’m glad they stepped up and backed their product. Review as changed to reflect a four star rating.Biggest issue is heat distribution problems and subsequently dealing with Breville’s customer product policies.So we purchased the Broville toaster exactly one year ago, this is our one year review. There will be the list of pros and cons, and then my own personal opinion about the toaster oven.Pros: easy to cleanconvection fan is strongaesthetically looks good on our countertopsizeability to hold larger dishes.Cons: heat distribution has significantly changed over one yearcan, and will cook items quicker than product calls for. Breville’s customer product support product replacement/repair seems worse than lower cost competitors.Here is my opinion, and what I’ve experienced over the last year of owning this toaster oven. It is a nice toaster oven and aesthetically, it looks great on my countertop. Cleaning is very easy, wipe it down after every use when it cools. I clean it with a soft cloth with Dawn power shot spray, but this toaster oven can look like $1 million but if it doesn’t cook the food properly than it is in that good of a product. Now I read all the reviews and this was consumer reports rated best toaster oven so we could possibly have just a model that went bad, but dealing with the company’s product support policies, it makes me feel like a misplaced $400 purchase.We use our toaster oven in place of an oven, we use it to toast, broil, bake, air fry. We have use this toaster oven for almost all our cooking needs, and gradually over one year of ownership, as you can see in the pictures, the toaster oven cooking unevenly. I called Breville’s product support, very nice employee, but could tell by the one hour hold time that their customer support is not getting any support themselves from the company. We had a Hamilton Beach toast oven, for almost 6 years prior to this toaster oven, in the first year when we had an issue, they informed us to return it, and get another one. After the warranty expired, we experienced another issue and called them, and they sent a replacement piece free of charge even though I informed them I was willing to pay. With this company I called on Tuesday and was informed that time that their policy is as follows with the toaster oven;They will video chat with me on the phone so they would be able to see the toaster oven on the mode selection “toast” that if all four heating elements heat it up then they would not do anything. I informed her that I use the toaster oven to cook in different modes over a longer period of time. She informed me that was the company‘s policy, if the four heating elements, all glow red, then the toaster is not broke. The scheduled video call was for Wednesday at 2 PM, I did not receive a call back that day. I then called on Thursday and input in my number into the callback system because they had an hour hold time. I never received a call back on Thursday. Friday I called and got the same nice employee on the phone, informed her that I was ready to video chat. I was able to show her on a video call that the toast was heating up in the back more than it was heating up in the front even though all four elements were red. I was informed that their solution would be UPS would pick it up, they would have it for 5 to 7 days, then, if it was not repairable, they would replace it with a refurbished unit. when I informed her that we use this toaster oven for all our cooking needs outside of a stove top, she reiterated that the company’s policy was how she stated, and nothing else. I asked her to ask if there were any other options, she said no but she would get with her supervisor and they will email me to inform me if there is any other solution to repair or replace. I will update this review once I get my answer and that will either increase or decrease the rating.
