Nice upgrade from previous electric grinder

About 3 years ago, we decided to upgrade our home coffee brewing routine and purchased a Shardor Electric grinder for around $35.00. It worked, but adjusting the grind size was near impossible and a lot of 'fines' escaped, stuck to the hopper and some residual remained inside the components. So we decided to purchase the Virtuoso and are very pleased. This grinder is adjustable. Coffee tastes better and is less bitter. The motor has adequate torque and does not rotate as rapidly as the Shardor, reducing overheated beans. There is much less static and buildup of fine coffee particles. The coffee-grinds drawer is well designed and is lit, giving it a more expensive look. Clean up is also easier, since less grinds seem to escape everywhere, like with the Shardor. Overall, we are pleased with this coffee grinder, we like that replacement parts can be purchased for servicing, and would recommend it to anyone looking to improve their home coffee brewing experience.

This was a present to me, as my spouse resisted me getting it. 'The old one is good enough', was the thought. It was a several year old Krups and was not giving us consistent grounds. I had the size turned all the way up and we were still getting too much sludge in our cups. And, I was not pleased with the taste...lack of smoothness. I read reviews on grinders and decided on the Virtuoso+ over the cheaper model. I can say that this is a quality appliance. The design is evident. However, I do agree with the reviewer who criticized the Timer knob, and the difficulty setting various times. They are right...it is a pain when you want to vary the size down (not up), since the timer only increments in that direction using tenths of a second. Ugh! I was also disappointed that there wasn't a neat little manual that would be a nice reference when needed. Instead, all that I got was a Quick Start manual, with just the basics. I've been to the website and it does offer several instructional videos, which are helpful. And, changing the bean bin can be a challenge if there are beans still in it. The consistent grinding, helpful bin light, and rock solid build far outweigh the nits. I'm experimenting more now with different brands of coffee, and really enjoy exploring the different flavors. This grinder has made that easy to do.

1. A high quality grinder that produces a consistent grind. For us, this is by far the most important feature and outweighs the cons.
2. Not as messy as previous models in terms of leaving grinds on the counter
3. Baratza, even after the Breville acquisition, provides outstanding support. They are a bit slower to respond than before, but they do engage.

Cons
1. Rotating the dial to set the number of seconds you want it to grind is awkward and maxes out at 40 seconds. So we have to run it twice to get the coffee that we want.
2. Entering the "pulse" mode requires pushing and holding the dial for 3 seconds and then pulsing. Then you rotate the dial more than "two clicks" to exit pulse mode. Again, kind of a clunky user experience. Not sure the dial is much of an improvement over the previous adjustable self timer but I suppose it may be more reliable.
3. Really noisy.
4. It's a chore to clean, but familiar to anyone who has had a Baratza grinder before.

And it's not even that loud, relatively speaking. With 40 grind settings and programmable timer, it takes some trialing to dial in correct settings to your taste. It’s an amazing grinder if you brew coffee. Obviously, it’s not something new I’m saying, the reputation of Baratza is well known.

But if you want to make great espresso, this isn’t a grinder for you. I’ve still rated it 5 starts because it’s not supposed to be an Espresso grinder in the first place. It can grind fine enough for espresso but you can not dial it in properly for espresso. But overall, it’s an amazing grinder for brewing with all other methods.

Kein ständiges Abmessen/Wiegen, keine unnützen Deckelchen, keine großen Probleme mit statischer Aufladung, kein verstreutes Kaffeemehl.
Einfach den frisch gemahlenen Kaffee umschütten und aufbrühen.

Anders als bei der vorherigen Mühle kocht jetzt jeder in der Familie gerne guten Kaffee.

We finally found a coffee grinder that grinds a lovely fine espresso grind as well as switches easily back to french press grind. It sits nicely under the cabinet and isn't too loud. Found out match but had to pay for it.
Another good thing, it doesn't leave grinds scattered all over the counter each time we use it. Worth the extra dollars!
