Patriots 4 Pendleton is sponsoring a toy drive of new, unwrapped toys for kids 12 and under, as well as $25 gift cards for teenagers and single Marines, for Christmas this year.
The nonprofit organization is asking the community to partner with them as they support the brave men, women and families stationed at Camp Pendleton, which includes the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit as well as a unit recently returning from deployment and another set to deploy in 2024. Many of the single Marines won’t be able to go home for the holiday.

Canyon Hills church offers worship, brunch
Canyon Hills Presbyterian Church will host “A Weary World Rejoices – Christmas Concert, Carols and Brunch” on Sunday, Dec 3, and the community is invited to the all-family event.
Worship will be offered through song and music at 10 in the church’s sanctuary, followed by a brunch and carol singing in the Fellowship Hall that begins the season of Advent.

Libraries gets in holiday spirit
Holiday fun begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, at the East Anaheim Branch Library with a visit from Santa Claus.
Santa will read a special story, listen to Christmas wishes and be available for photos. All kids are welcome.
On Dec. 9, the East Anaheim branch will offer a special program celebrating “Frozen” with Ana and Elsa. This event will include stories and sing-alongs, as well as photo opportunities. There will also be a chance to participate in “Frozen” themed crafts, games and snacks following the program.

The Canyon Hills Library will transform into the North Pole on Dec. 15.
The 3:30 to 6 p.m. event will include a visit and photo opportunities with Santa and a Santa’s workshops to make crafts and toys. Also enjoy an outdoor screening of “Elf,” complete with a hot cocoa bar and delicious treats.

Enjoy a White Christmas with the Women’s Club
Members of the Anaheim Hills Women’s Club are planning a White Christmas luncheon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 20 at the Anaheim Hills Golf Course. And all women in the community are invited.
Special holiday entertainment will be provided by the Bell Canto Carolers (dressed in Dickens attire) from Orange Lutheran High School of Performing Arts.

Libraries have new branch manager
The Anaheim Public Library system recently announced Nissa Perez-Montoya as its new branch manager for the Canyon Hills and East Anaheim libraries. She begins her new duties the first week of December.
Prior to her promotion, Perez-Montoya served for nine years as the principal librarian of youth services at Anaheim’s Central Library, facilitating the summer, winter and In-N-Out reading programs. She also initiated a partnership with the First Books organization resulting in more than 100,000 free books for Anaheim’s kids, teens and teachers.
Perez-Montoya said one of her most memorable projects was spearheading the Anaheim Public Library’s first Fourth of July Library Float for the Canyon Hills Community Parade in 2015 in collaboration with library staff and the Friends of Canyon Hills Library.
Prior to her position with the Anaheim Library, Perez-Montoya worked at various libraries including in Los Angeles, Pomona and Burbank.
