JSerra’s Ryder Dodd and Huntington Beach’s Ethan Spoon, two seniors who helped lead their teams to CIF-SS championships in boys water polo, have been selected section players of the year.

The CIF-SS announced the honors Monday with the release of the All-CIF teams.

Dodd was named the Open Division player of the year after leading the Lions to an undefeated season. The UCLA-bound attacker balanced a prolific campaign while helping the U.S. national team qualify for the 2024 Olympics by winning the Pan American Games.

Dodd capped his season by scoring 10 goals in the Lions’ victory in the CIF State SoCal Division 1 final.

Spoon, a center headed to UC Irvine, was voted as the Division 1 player of the year for leading the Oilers to their first section title.

JSerra’s Brett Ormsby and Huntington Beach’s Sasa Branisavljevic were named the coaches of the year in the Open and Division 1, respectively.
