UPDATED:

Admittedly, I was biased going into the debate Thursday Nov. 30 because I consider myself a traditional Reagan conservative.

That said, I felt I needed a shower after watching Gov. Newsom slimily alternate between dodging even a hint of answering any questions directly and focusing on nothing beyond trying to undermine Gov. DeSantis at every turn. Why not mix in some things that you have achieved, Gavin?  Oh yeah … you couldn’t because you haven’t. DeSantis’ debate performance wasn’t outstanding, to be honest.

But at least he could and did tout legitimate success in Florida while coming off as genuine and without a hidden agenda.

I-10 Freeway fire

Re “15 risky sites ID’d below 10 Freeway” (Dec. 3):

One only needs to “drive” through the storage sites beneath I-10 Freeway using Google Maps to see what the conditions were like before the devastating fire.

The sidewalks and part of the street were covered with trash and debris from the homeless encampments that the city of Los Angeles and Caltrans had allowed to accumulate. The pallets are clearly visible in the background behind the graffiti-covered fencing. The fire most likely wouldn’t have sustained combustion had this been cleaned up as it should have been.

It is no wonder that the agencies that have done the subsequent inspections are slow to release the results of their investigation.

No new laws or regulations are needed to correct this; the government should be held accountable.

The Newsom-DeSantis showdown on Fox News

This “debate” in my opinion disclosed the following:

Newson refused to answer questions posed to him; instead he tried to deflect the topics with lies. It proved that California has significant problems with the economy, homelessness, immigration, education, crime and taxes compared to Florida.

Newsom’s slick demeanor didn’t help him, instead it made him look foolish. They both attacked each other, which didn’t help each other’s cause. Instead it disclosed the myriad of problems connected to our country.
