Geri Horner 'leaning on' Victoria Beckham amid husband’s investigation - ‘They’ve always been there for each other'
As Geri Horner’s Formula 1 boss husband is investigated over allegations about “inappropriate behaviour” at work, she is relying on some of her oldest friends to help her through.
A source has told OK! that the 51-year-old is leaning heavily on her old pal Victoria Beckham as she tries to weather the storm surrounding her hubby, Christian Horner, 50.
The millionaire boss of the Red Bull racing team is currently being investigated after execs were made aware of “certain recent allegations”, which Christian said he “completely denies”.
Following the news of the probe into his alleged conduct, our source claimed that Victoria, 49, was quick to reach out to her former Spice Girl bandmate.
“They always got on well and have been there for each other through the difficult times,” they said.
“When Geri was having a bit of a stormy relationship with some of the other Spice Girls, Victoria supported her and helped her through. It’s the same now – Victoria wants to support Geri any way she can.”
Victoria and her husband David, 48, have had their own fair share of difficulties over the years, including the fallout from his alleged affair with Rebecca Loos, which they addressed in their Netflix docuseries last year, and the public backlash from his sending off during the infamous England v Argentina game in the 1998 World Cup.
According to our source, Geri, who married Christian in 2015 and welcomed their son Monty in January 2017, was one of Victoria’s biggest supporters through the troubled times.
“Victoria and David have had some really low points together as a couple and Geri was there for her,” they told us. “She’s never forgotten how good Geri was with all the Rebecca Loos stuff, and the horrible treatment of David after the World Cup.
“Now she knows it’s her time to be there for Geri, and she wants to look after her and help her.”
They may lean on each other now, but Geri and Victoria haven’t always seen eye to eye. They were once involved in a spat, after Geri walked out on the group halfway through the Spice Girls’ world tour in 1998.
Recalling how furious she was about it at the time, in her 2001 memoir Learning To Fly, Victoria said, “She was one of my best friends and now she had walked out without a word. What I felt was anger at the selfishness of it all, then betrayal.”
But when Geri went on to leave the band, “Victoria was there holding an olive branch out to her,” said our source.
Victoria has also reportedly recently patched things up closer to home – ending her “feud” with actress daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz Beckham, 29.
The mum-of-four was said to be at odds with Nicola following a disagreement over the design of Nicola’s dress for her Palm Beach wedding to Victoria and David’s eldest son Brooklyn, 24.
In response to reports that Nicola “refused” to wear her mum-in-law’s design, the bride- to-be offered up a different narrative, telling a magazine at the time, “We connected to start designing the dress, and then a few days went by and I didn’t hear anything. Victoria called my mom and said her atelier couldn’t make it.”
With the new Mr and Mrs Beckham approaching their second wedding anniversary, our source claims that Victoria knew the time had come to move on for the sake of the family.
“Victoria took a step back, so Nicola took a step forward and it allowed them to resolve things and move on,” they claimed.
“She just wants the best for her son, and Brooklyn made it clear that Nicola was the number one woman in his life so they had to resolve things. David was instrumental in it too because family is everything to him.”
After posting photos of them all together at Christmas, Victoria then gave the ultimate peace offering in the form of a gushing public post on her social media.
Alongside a series of snaps of them together at the recent film premiere of Lola, which Nicola directed and stars in, Victoria said she “could not be more proud” of her daughter-in-law.
“They were able to come to a truce and sort everything out,” our source said. “It’s difficult at times because Victoria is used to being the boss and ruling everything – she’s the matriarch of the family.
“Nicola and Victoria are both very strong characters, so it was either going to end in them losing the relationship Victoria and David have with Brooklyn, or the issues needed to be put to bed to bring them all back together.
“It’s a lot better now and Brooklyn is thrilled.”
