The Prince and Princess of Wales have always been keen for their children to have as normal a school experience as possible - but there was one special exception that made Prince George and Princess Charlotte stand out from their peers.
Before joining Lambrook School in 2022, the young royals were students at Thomas's School in Battersea. Prince George began his education there in September 2017, with Princess Charlotte following suit in September 2019.
This meant that they were both attending the school during the pandemic. Like all educational institutions, Thomas's implemented several Covid-19 safety measures to protect its students and staff and minimise the risk of virus transmission.
One significant change was that parents were asked to leave their children at the main gates instead of driving into the school premises. However, royal commentator Katie Nicholl suggested that the Wales family were given an exception.
In an article for Vanity Fair, she wrote: "According to one parent, the school has installed numerous Covid prevention measures and parents now have to drop children at the school gates. The Waleses, however, are still able to drive their children into the school grounds.", reports the Mirror.
Despite their royal status, the couple are just like any other parents when it comes to the school run. The Prince and Princess of Wales, who have personal protection officers with them at all times due to security reasons, are often seen dropping off and picking up their children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis - from Lambrook, a prep school in Berkshire.

The royal couple, despite having a nanny and other staff, make sure to arrange their work duties around their children's school schedule.
Interestingly, the three royal children, who are in Year 6, Year 4, and Year 1 respectively, are not referred to by their royal titles at school. Instead, they are known simply as George Wales, Charlotte Wales, and Louis Wales among their school friends, reflecting their parents' titles, the Prince and Princess of Wales, which were bestowed upon them following Queen Elizabeth II's death in September 2022.
Lambrook caters for pupils up to the age of 13 - and according to reports, William and Kate have already started to consider which secondary school Prince George will attend. It's been claimed that the couple toured St Edward's School in Oxford a £46,980-per-annum boarding school for boys and girls aged 13 to 18, who are affectionately known as 'Teddies'.
It's located roughly an hour's drive away from the Waleses' family home in Windsor, and it's co-educational meaning that Princess Charlotte could also join her big brother there when the time comes.
