Rutgers Football Tale of the Tape: What Makes John Forster a Top Talent?

The Scarlet Knights landed the four-star NJ RB this weekend.

Rutgers Football just landed another high recruit today — four-star running back John Forster out of Saint Joseph Regional in Montvale, NJ. He is rated as the No. 5 player in New Jersey, according to 247 Sports, but what exactly makes his play so special? Here are a few reasons why Forster is a great pickup for the Knights.

1. Vision

Forster has a very good sense on how a play is developing and where he is getting his good blocks from to make his run cut deep. He has a very strong ability to see how the defense is adjusting to his play and what he can do to expose their coverups. He just has a tendency to know exactly where the soft spot in the defense is.

2. His Burst

It seems like whenever he hits a whole, no matter how big or how small, he becomes an immediate danger to gash the defense for some major yards. The best way to describe it is that he seems to have a second gear he can engage when coming through the line making any open run a race to the pylon in a hurry.

3. Pass-catching ability

It seems like Forster has spent some time in high school at wide receiver because on a few looks he is split out wide with the rest of the receivers. In addition, he has also hauled in a lot of passes out of the back field. It has been a long time since Rutgers has had a good pass catching running back and that looks like it will change here. It will be interesting to see what he can do when he arrives on the Banks.
