Greg Schiano has worked to keep elite talent home in New Jersey and took another step in accomplishing that goal on Sunday.

Four-star linebacker DJ McClary announced on social media that he has committed to Rutgers.

McClary originally committed to Penn State but decided to flip his commitment and stay home. The product of Henry Snyder High School in Jersey City, McClary also held offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee, USC, and many others.

McClary is currently a four-star recruit who is ranked 145th overall in ESPN’s 300. He is currently No. 4 in New Jersey in the Class of 2025.

McClary has been a standout at Snyder for three years. As a junior, the dual-threat totaled 95 tackles, 15 for loss, with two sacks and a forced fumble. Offensively, McClary rushed for 1,420 yards and 19 touchdowns while throwing for 795 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Class of 2025 for Rutgers now has 28 commits, which is the most in the nation. It is a Top 10 class in the country and continues to grow.

Greg Schiano continues to keep talent in New Jersey. Last week, John Forster, who stars for St. Joseph Regional in Montvale, became the third commit from New Jersey over the last week. Offensive lineman Jaelyne Matthews became the highest-rated prospect in the class for Rutgers at the time of his commitment. The Scarlet Knights also landed Donovan Catholic wide receiver Michael Thomas III.

Now, McClary gives the Scarlet Knights another big-time piece on the defensive side of the ball.
