Rutgers Football Lands 4-Star LB Kamar Archie, Adding to Historic 2025 Class

The Knights currently have a Top 15 Class for 2025

4-Star prospect Kamar Archie of the Hun School commits to Rutgers University | July 5th, 2024

Rutgers Football remains hotter than the blistering weather on the recruiting trail, adding the icing on the cake with the addition of The Hun School linebacker Kamar Archie. It was a recruitment that began more than three years ago when Archie was a freshman at Ewing High in New Jersey before he transferred and re-classified into the 2025 class at Hun in Princeton. Archie took his official visit to the banks on the weekend of June 14th.

Rutgers beat out a long list of powerhouses, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Clemson, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC, Washington, and Wisconsin. This was unfathomable before Schiano 2.0 put on his Santa outfit, hopped in his sleigh, and returned to Piscataway in December of 2019 to help rebuild a downtrodden program overmatched on both sides of the ball in the black and blue Big Ten Conference.

Fast-forward to July 5th, 2024, and the Scarlet Knights are coming off a winning season culminating in the Pinstripe Bowl victory over the Miami Hurricanes and currently have a Top-15 recruiting class. The 6-foot-1, 228-pound Archie is already built for the college game. He will provide another active sideline-to-sideline wrecking ball on a Rutgers defense that continues to have a reputation as one of the nation’s most active, toughest, and best units. Archie joins fellow New Jersey in-staters, running back John Forster, offensive tackle Jaelyne Matthews, and fellow linebacker DJ McClary (who flipped from Penn State to Rutgers in June) as the other four-star commitments in Rutgers’ 2025 class.

With a background in track, Archie adds electrifying speed to the 2025 unit, a staple under defensive coordinator Joe Harasymiak’s system. Hun head coach Todd Smith praises Archie for his work ethic and team-first attitude, key traits in Schiano’s programs.

Quotable

“Kamar Archie is physically the most gifted player I have ever coached. He possesses elite size, speed, and power, with the ability to dominate football games on both sides of the ball as a linebacker or running back. His exceptional work ethic is evident as he consistently puts in the effort to improve every day. Kamar isn’t afraid of hard work and continually pushes himself to get better. Additionally, he is a great teammate and a natural leader (courtesy Rivals).”

With the addition of Archie, Rutgers now has three linebackers committed in the 2025 class, 29 total commitments in all. You can enjoy some of Archie’s highlights in the clip below.
