Bio
Shermaine Acosta is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) and certified family nurse practitioner (FNP-C) with the Orlando Health Cancer Institute Reflux Center. Her duties include:
- Performing physical examinations
- Developing treatment plans
- Ordering and interpreting lab results
- Providing preventive healthcare plans and counseling
- Working closely with gastroenterologists and thoracic surgeons
She began her nursing career in 2009 and also has experience in pediatric epilepsy, neurology and sleep medicine, critical care, burn trauma and dialysis.
Shermaine strives to treat each patient as if they are a family member.
Shermaine’s Training
Shermaine received her nursing training from Cebu Doctors' University in Mandaue City, Philippines, and earned her master’s degree in nursing in the family nurse practitioner program at Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
About Shermaine
She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is licensed as a registered nurse in Florida, Georgia and New Mexico and as an APRN in Florida. Her professional memberships include the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Philippine Nurses Association and Florida Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Outside of work, Shermaine enjoys gardening, karaoke, learning about ancient history, international travel and studying languages. She is fluent in English and Tagalog.

The Patient Satisfaction Rating is an average of all responses to the care provider related questions, shown above, from our nationally-recognized Press-Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of Orlando Health.
Ratings may not be present for certain physicians of Orlando Health Physician Group and Orlando Health Physician Associates because:
- The physician has not yet met the minimum number of 30 patient satisfaction surveys to be eligible for display.
- They may be a researcher or type of provider that does not see patients.
