Neurodiagnostics

Critical Testing For a Better Quality of Life

Neurodiagnostic outpatient services provide advanced testing for a variety of disorders associated with the brain and nervous system. Available through the Neurophysiology Laboratory, these tests reveal important information to successfully diagnose and treat everything from common headaches and dizziness to epilepsy, stroke and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).

Led by an expert team of technicians, the neurodiagnostic services play a critical role in managing neurological conditions. This significantly improves quality of life, building self-confidence and allowing personal relationships to flourish.

Electroencephalogram

Painless and non-invasive, an electroencephalogram (EEG) study uses electrodes attached to the scalp to measure your patients’ brain waves. An EEG is very effective in helping to treat numerous neurological and psychological problems.

Electromyography

Often used to detect symptoms of unusual tingling, numbness or pain, an electromyography (EMG) requires the insertion of tiny needles into muscles both while contracting and at rest. By recording the muscles’ physiologic properties, an EMG is extremely helpful in the diagnosis and management of muscle diseases, nerve root irritation and certain spinal cord problems.

Nerve Conduction Study

Similar to an EMG, a nerve conduction study (NCS) checks the motor and sensory nerves for paresthesias and weakness of the arms and legs.

Evoked Potential Test

This group of three tests assesses visual function, hearing function and spinal cord integrity. They are performed by certified technologists, and interpreted by a neurologist designated by the ordering physician.
