KISSIMMEE — St. Cloud officials have worked out their questions about a regional water authority being set up by Kissimmee and Osceola County, which puts the matter back on the priority list for lobbying in Tallahassee.

St. Cloud officials had objected to requesting a local bill in the upcoming state legislative session that would grant the new authority more autonomy from other governments and the right of condemnation and other powers.

The city’s main concern was whether the authority would be able to stop St. Cloud from expanding its borders and service area for its water utility.

Kissimmee and the county had long said the authority would not stop St. Cloud from expanding, as long as it was able to reach an area to serve before the authority did.

A letter from St. Cloud City Manager Paul Kaskey said the two sides have now agreed on that, and the city will no longer object to placing the issue on the Osceola Legislative Effort priority list.
