COCOA — A man was killed Saturday when his SUV crossed opposing traffic on State Road 520 and flipped over several times, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The accident occurred at 5:04 p.m. a half-mile west of F. Burton Park. Jerome Lester, 39, of Cocoa was driving his 2003 Hyundai SUV westbound on S.R. 520 at a high rate of speed, the FHP said.
His car crossed the opposing lanes of traffic and overturned numerous times on the shoulder. Lester, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and died. The SUV finally came to a rest on the center stripe of S.R. 520 facing east.
