CLERMONT — Hospice of Lake & Sumter is looking for a donation of 2 acres of land for a hospice house in south Lake. The search is on because an in-house hospice unit at Westminster Care of Clermont was closed when new management took over the facility. That action demonstrated the need for a permanent south Lake location, said Lee Hansen, Hospice of Lake & Sumter spokesman.

Hospice has a six-patient residence in Tavares and a 12-patient facility under construction in The Villages. The south Lake facility would be an eight-patient residence to serve as home to patients unable to receive hospice care in their own homes. The project would cost an estimated $1.5 million, assuming a donated piece of property can be found.
