I loved your commentary (Mike Bianchi, Waltrip only sees silver lining, Feb. 17) on NASCAR calling the Daytona 500 so soon. You wrote exactly what I felt.

For my two cents — I guess we’re stuck with the networks — because they’ve got the big money.

The “event,” no matter what it might be — racing, football, or whatever — means nothing to the networks in terms of providing coverage. It’s ONLY the money.

For me it was a sad day when ESPN lost the NASCAR contract and I’m not the least bit surprised at Fox calling the race so soon.
