Key hole

The 12th hole on the Magnolia Course is a tame par-3 of 155 yards, but it gravely injured No. 1-ranked Tiger Woods on Friday. His tee shot plugged in a bunker, his explosion shot sailed across the green into another trap, and he double-bogeyed the hole, leaving him likely to miss his second cut this year.

Quote of the day

“That’s pretty ridiculous. I’m pretty happy with 17 in a row. I’m not going to miss a cut until 2012?” — Australia’s Geoff Ogilvy on owning the second-longest active cut streak on tour at 17 events in succession, which leaves him roughly seven years shy of breaking Woods’ record of 142 cuts in a row.

Long shot

Vijay Singh hooked a 3-wood into the water on the sixth hole on the Palm Course, starting a chain reaction that led to a week-wrecking triple-bogey. He ultimately hit a pair of balls in the water on the hole and stood two shots below the projected cut line when play was halted Friday.

Stat of the day

Disney courses are easy, huh? Woods triple-bogeyed the fifth hole on the Magnolia Course on Friday and later double-bogeyed the 12th. It marked the first time he posted a triple-bogey and double-bogey in the same PGA Tour round since the 2000 Masters.

Fan buzz

When Nick Price nailed a drive on the Mag Course, a fan yelled, “Way to go, Nick, you’ve still got it.” Price, 48, laughed and said, “I’m just passing time until I can play with the old guys.”
