ORANGE COUNTY—A Melbourne woman was killed Wednesday in a crash on State Road 417 near the University Boulevard exit, a Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.
Christine Bragg, 29, had just finished paying a toll in the northbound cash lanes about 2:40 p.m when the crash took place.
Investigators think she became confused and instead of proceeding on the toll ramp, which merges back with the main road, she tried to cut left onto the northbound E-Pass lanes.
Bragg drove her 2005 Hyundai Elantra into the path of a box truck, which struck the driver’s side door. They traveled through the lane into the grass nearby.
Bragg was pronounced dead at the scene.
The box truck’s driver, Benito Rosa, 30, and passenger Angel Santiago, 32, were uninjured. Both are from Orlando.
All those involved were wearing seat belts.
