Recruiting update

Titusville Astronaut DE John Cabbage (6 feet 2/230 pounds) committed to Navy. Cabbage, No.85 in the Sentinel’s preseason list of the state’s top 100 players, picked Navy over Air Force.

Two other star Floridians also committed. Panama City Mosley RB Enrique Davis (5-11/212), whose dad, Henry, was a cornerback at Florida in the 1970s, chose Auburn, and Sarasota Riverview OL Mike Iltis (6-3/285) picked Colorado.

Briefly

East Carolina WR Bobby Good, a senior from Lake Highland Prep, has a broken bone in his left foot and is expected to miss at least one game. . . . Starting LB Rufus Alexander, perhaps Oklahoma’s best defensive player, was arrested Sunday on charges of disturbing the peace and interference with official process, police in Norman, Okla., said. . . . Southern Miss Coach Jeff Bower said DT Ryan Watson and his wife were arrested on a misdemeanor charge of domestic abuse. Bower said he won’t decide whether that will affect Watson’s role on the team until he talks with Watson. Bower also said C.J. Barrows has quit the team, the third running back to leave the team since the start of the season. . . . Stanford starting QB Trent Edwards sustained what could be a season-ending broken right foot in Saturday’s loss to Arizona. Backup QB T.C. Ostrander was hurt on the final play, meaning redshirt freshman Tavita Pritchard — who has spent the past few weeks at wide receiver — could be the new starter. . . . Navy QB Brian Hampton likely will miss the rest of the season after dislocating his left knee and tearing an anterior cruciate ligament in Saturday’s loss to Rutgers. Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada and Jarod Bryant will battle for the starting job. . . . Mississippi State OT J.D. Hamilton has torn cartilage in a knee and will miss at least one game. . . . NC State QB Daniel Evans sustained a concussion but is “very probable” for this week’s game at Maryland, Coach Chuck Amato said.
