WHAT TO EXPECT: There have been too many distractions before the season begins to think everything will be fine. Jackson’s problems are dividing the franchise, and legal problems could keep him off the court. Carlisle planned to go with a small starting lineup but might change his mind and insert Jeff Foster at center with O’Neal and Harrington as forwards.
WHO WILL SHOW THE MOST GROWTH? Reserve Marquis Daniels, a former Edgewater star acquired from Dallas, will get an opportunity.
WHO NEEDS TO GROW? O’Neal is talented enough to become an MVP candidate. The other Pacers will follow if he becomes a true leader.
