The Judds to appear at Lake’s Grand Oaks Resort

UPDATED:

The general manager of Lake County’s Grand Oaks Resort said Saturday’s concert by Naomi and Wynonna Judd and a Feb. 4 appearance by Willie Nelson are an experiment.

“It’s a test,” Tom Warriner said. “We have sent out invitations to many types of entertainment, such as a jazz artist – a real mix – because our audience is so varied. We’ll see how it goes.”

The Judds, who ruled the record charts in the 1980s, will appear at the attraction north of Lady Lake, which was formerly known as the Florida Carriage Museum & Resort.

With a string of 14 No. 1 hits and a handful of Grammys, the mother-and-daughter duo breathed life into country music between their debut in 1984, beginning with “Mama He’s Crazy” and ending when hepatitis C forced Naomi Judd to retire in 1991. Since her disease went into remission, Naomi Judd has appeared and toured with her daughter, most notably on the “Last Encore” tour.
