2 dead in separate but ‘related’ shootings minutes apart, Orange Sheriff’s Office says

Two men died Thursday afternoon following shootings at separate locations in east Orange County, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and detectives believe the shootings are related. A suspect has been detained, the agency said.

At 2:07 p.m., deputies responded to a shooting in the 5200 block of Sailfish Street. When they arrived, they found a man in his 40s who had been shot. He was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

A few minutes later, about 2:20 p.m., deputies responded to a second shooting, in the 2700 block of Appaloosa Road. There, they found a man in his 20s who had been shot, the Sheriff’s Office said. He also was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office said it is in the “early stages of an active and ongoing investigation.”
