UPDATED:

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the Thursday killing of a 13-year-old girl on the 4400 block of South Rio Grande Avenue.

Rose Dieujuste was found by deputies responding to the scene around 2:30 p.m., according to a press release from the sheriff’s office. Deputies transported her to a hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Rose’s death is being investigated as a homicide. The release included few details but mentioned she was found with “obvious signs of trauma.”

The Orlando Sentinel spoke with residents of the area who said the killing occurred at the Palmetto at Lakeside apartment complex. An employee at the complex said the investigation is ongoing and they were not allowed to comment.

The Sentinel contacted the sheriff’s office, which would not confirm the incident happened at the complex.
