Marijuana Enthusiast Snoop Dogg Showed Up To Support Sha'Carri Richardson At Olympic Trials

Three years after being suspended over a positive marijuana test, Sha'Carri Richardson will finally get to fulfill her dream of competing in the Olympics. And who better to cheer her on than Snoop Dogg himself?

Richardson, one of the United States’ biggest track and field stars, won the 100-meter with a time of 10.71 at the Olympic trials on Saturday in Eugene, Oreg. It was the fastest women's 100 time in the world this year.

Her Olympic bid is icing on the cake after a dominant year on the track. At the world championships in Budapest in August, she set an event record in the 100-meter with a time of 10.65. She also claimed gold in the 4x100m relay as well as bronze in the 200-meter at the world championships.

And now, she'll finally get her shot at an Olympic gold.

Sha'Carri Richardson Looking For Redemption In Paris

Back in 2021, Richardson was not allowed to compete in the Tokyo Olympics after she tested positive for THC. She said on NBC’s TODAY show that she ingested it in Oregon after the death of her mother. Marijuana is legal in Oregon, but it's still on the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) banned list.

"I know what I did, I know what I’m supposed to do ... and I still made that decision," Richardson said at the time. "I’m not making an excuse or looking for empathy in my case. However, being in that position in my life, finding out something like that ... dealing with the relationship I have with my mother, that definitely was a very heavy topic on me."

Several celebrities came to her defense, including — probably the most famous of all weed enthusiasts — Snoop Dogg.

"ARE YOU SERIOUS?! MARIJUANA?" he wrote on social media. "IT’S NOT AN ENHANCEMENT FOR HER ABILITIES…"

So when it was time for the 2024 Trials at Hayward Field, Snoop was there to cheer on the 24-year-old sprinter. The crowd went wild as Snoop made his way to the stands in his black and blue tracksuit. And he took the time to personally say hello to Richardson, who seemed sufficiently starstruck by the Doggfather.

We already know Flavor Flav will be in Paris to cheer on the women's water polo team. Maybe Snoop will make the trip, too!
