The Galaxy Z Fold 6 was announced on July 10, 2024 during the H2 Galaxy Unpacked event. Pre-orders started on the same date with general availability following shortly on July 24, 2024.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 Camera
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 has retained the same camera configuration and hardware from its predecessor. The phone has a triple camera system on the back, and two front cameras, one on the cover screen, and another under-display selfie camera on the main flexible panel.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 Storage
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 comes in three storage variants just like its predecessor. The RAM situation is the same on all models, we have 12GB of LPDDR5X memory. The storage capacities start from 256GB and go all the way up to 1TB. There's no microSD card slot available on the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 Design and Colors
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 features several design tweaks compared to its predecessor, and it's also lighter and a bit more compact. The phone is 1.3mm thinner when folded, 0.5mm thinner when unfolded, and 1.4mm shorter, but also 2.7mm wider when unfolded and 1mm wider when folded to accommodate the new aspect ratio. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is also 14 grams lighter than the previous model.
The overall look of the phone is more boxy with straight lines and edges, and the camera bump design is different. The materials used are the same as the ones on the previous generation, we have Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the cover screen and the back. Galaxy Z Fold 6 Display
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 technically has the same diagonal for its main display but the aspect ratio has changed. The main screen is now a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED Display with 2160x1856 resolution and 20.9:18 aspect ratio. The panel supports dynamic refresh rates between 1 and 120Hz.
The cover screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is 0.1 inch larger than the one found on the previous model. It's a 6.3-inch HD+ panel with 2376 x 968 resolution, 22.1:9 aspect ratio, and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 Battery and Charging
There's no change in battery capacity for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, compared to its predecessor. The phone features the same 4,400mAh battery, consisting of two cells in the two wings of the body.
The charging situation has also remained unchanged, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 supports wired charging with speeds up to 25W. Samsung cites 0 to 50% charge in 30 minutes. The phone also supports wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare - a feature that enables the Galaxy Z Fold 6 to charge wirelessly other accessories which support WPC wireless charging.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 Software and Features
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 runs Android 14 out of the box with Samsung's proprietary One UI 6.1.1 on top. The phone will receive Android 15 toward the end of the year and just like all the Galaxy flagships of late it will be supported for seven full years.
Samsung's latest foldable also features the Galaxy AI suite, a set of AI tools to make your life a bit easier. We have familiar features such as Circle to Search (easy search for everything on your screen), Browsing Assist (a web page translator and summarizer), Transcript Assist (easy meeting transcription, summary and translation) and Note Assist (auto-formatting, summarizing, sketch to image), as well as some new tricks in the Camera department - AI-powered ProVisual Engine, Portrait Studio, and Instant Slow-mo.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 Hardware
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 comes equipped with the latest and greatest Qualcomm silicon - the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. What's more, this chipset has been optimized and bear the moniker "for Galaxy." Basically, this means that the chip has slightly faster clock speeds, and will perform a tad better than the regular "non-Galaxy" chip, at least in theory.
The new silicon is 41% faster in NPU (neural processing tasks), has 25% better graphics performance, and it is 14% faster in CPU performance, compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 5. There's a new vapor chamber to manage the excess heat, and it's 1.6x bigger than the one found on the previous model.
