Three Realistic Targets

Obviously the Yankees need reinforcements for the final 64 games of the season, so here's one man's view of what the priorities should be and realistic targets to address those positions.

Third Base --- My personal preferences would be Ryan McMahon or Jonathan India, but indications are they are not going to be made available. So how about Paul DeJong? He's a SS by trade, but he could move to 3B and his 16 HR power would be very welcome. His .697 OPS isn't great, but it's nearly 100 points high than what the Yankees have gotten out of the position this year.

Bullpen Depth --- I don't believe the Yankees have the prospects to acquire Tanner Scott or Mason Miller, so how about a reunion with old friend(s) David Robertson and/or Kirby Yates? Texas is going nowhere and both are potential free agents having excellent year. Yates could be the closer with new (and ridiculously good) splitter with D-Rbo joining Holmes and Weaver in a really good set-up trio.

Right handed bat --- The Yankees have been brutal against LHP since the departure of Giancarlo Stanton and it's a fool's errand to simply count on his return. Enter Tommy Pham as a LF/DH. He's a serviceable LF which gets Verdugo (.563 vs OPS LHP) out of the lineup against southpaws.

There you have it. Nothing overly sexy in there, but four quality MLV players to improve the Yankees in their weakest areas. They should be able to acquire all without sacrificing Dominguez or Jones and, frankly there are no other youngsters good enough to get in the way of making this happen.... except maybe Augustin Ramirez.

The roster with those four replacing Cousins, Maciejewski, Cabrera and Jamai Jones is MUCH better.
