Prime Day is coming. Amazon has announced the dates for Prime Day 2024, a two-day summer sale to satisfy those in need of a deal between last year’s Black Friday/Cyber Monday and the next one. The 48-hour sale (with some early Prime Day deals, of course) runs July 16-17 and boasts an ungodly number of discounts across Amazon’s entire proverbial catalog. If past is prologue, expect a number of deals on video games, toys, board games, and more.

We’ll be using our human-powered intelligence to cover the best deals that you, dear Polygon reader, care the most about. Here’s what you need to know to be ready:

When is Amazon Prime Day 2024?

Amazon Prime Day will start Tuesday, July 16 at 3:01 a.m. EDT (12:01 a.m. PDT) and run through Wednesday, July 17.

How to sign up for Amazon Prime

If you want to make the most of Prime Day, you must subscribe to Amazon Prime, which includes the usual perks of fast shipping, year-round exclusive discounts, free games, and access to all four seasons of The Boys (in addition hundreds of other TV shows, movies, and several The Boys-related spinoffs through Prime Video). You can start a free 30-day trial now or sign up directly for a full membership, which costs $14.99 per month or $139 annually. This maths out to less than $12 per month.

What to expect from Prime Day 2024

While Amazon doesn’t typically announce discounts ahead of time, there are plenty safe bets on what kind of deals you can expect from this year’s Prime Day:

  • Video games: Expect as much as double-digit discounts on top games for Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, PC, and more.
  • Board games and tabletop: Off-the-grid gaming is great — anyone who reads our board game and tabletop coverage knows this well. Now’s a good time to fill out your collection.
  • SSDs and other gaming accessories: Need additional storage? Better headphones? A new 4K TV with HDR? If you’ve waited this long, it’s probably worth checking out what will be on sale during Prime Day.
  • DVD and Blu-ray box sets: The best way to enjoy your favorite movies and TV shows is with pristine visual fidelity and director’s commentary tracks.
  • Early deals: While Prime Day is technically a two-day event, expect more than a few big discount items in the days and weeks leading up to it.
  • Competing retailers: Amazon won’t be the only retailer partaking in Prime Day celebration. Expect Walmart, Best Buy, Target, Newegg, and many more to join in the discount-a-palooza on or around Prime Day, as they all have in years past.
