*CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS* I work primarily with couples, and individuals wishing to address relationship issues. I enjoy working with couples to establish new ways of communicating with one another so that they can have closer, more fulfilling relationships. I also work with people going through transitional moments in life , when everything is possible. From difficult break ups to career changes, these moments can provide tough challenges, but also opportunities for people to redefine themselves and their goals.

My life’s work has been about empowering individuals that suffer. Whether it be supporting individuals that have experienced trauma, or struggle with their identity, this work has been about being a witness and a guide to transformation. I have been practicing over twelve years as a Psychologist and, although no longer a midwife, I practiced as one for more than five years in the Inuit communities of Nunavik, in northern Quebec.

Counselling can feel scary and uncomfortable, but it can also be a safe and supportive space to help you unpack the difficult experiences and emotions that are weighing heavily upon you. If you can answer yes to any of the following questions, I empathize with your pain and struggle and am ready and willing to help. Are you struggling to navigate a current situation or relationship-dynamic? Are you starting to realize that your usual ways of coping are no longer working for you? Do you want to see and feel progress but don't know where to start? Is your inner-dialogue filled with shame, criticism and unhelpful ways of thinking?

I highly value the therapeutic alliance and am committed to offering a collaborative, non-judgmental and warm space for clients to share. I primarily practice from a psychodynamic approach; we work together to understand how past experiences and relationships inform behaviours, emotions, and perspectives present day. I accompany and support clients in understanding the source of their difficulties, their needs and intensions for our work. I am open and flexible to adapt my approach to each individual’s needs, often drawing from cognitive-behavioural and emotion-focused interventions.

The lives of our minds are rich and varied. We cycle through waking to dreaming, engage in meditation practices and engage our imagination in a multitude of ways. Sometimes, however, solid sleep is out of reach, nightmares, sleep paralysis and recurrent dreams interfere with out well-being and feel overwhelming and distressing. Despite this, it is possible to learn to gain agency and learn good sleep sleep habits, to gain mastery over our dreaming lives, and to transform negative nightmares or sleep paralysis into neutral and even positive experiences.

Sometimes "expecting" is not what you expect! If you are thinking about having a baby, struggling to conceive, are pregnant or are within your first year postpartum and are concerned about your experience, I can help. Sometimes too and tragically, pregnancies don't always end with a happy outcome. Whichever situation you are facing, I can offer you both individualized support or in a group setting so that you don't feel alone and isolated in your current struggle. I work collaboratively with my clients and my style is very conversational. I want you to feel comfortable and at ease in coming to therapy.

I am a psychologist registered with the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec specializing in research-supported treatment approaches known collectively as Contemporary Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I help clients find ways to overcome new, and sometimes old, challenges as well as to adjust to limitations. I make therapy active, including running sessions outside the office for exposure when needed. I prefer to keep therapy time limited to improve accountability and maximize results for efforts.

Many of us face times in our lives when we need support to get through difficult periods. I see psychotherapy as a safe space to explore yourself, gain self-insight and understanding, and develop tools and resources to face the ups and downs of life. Since 2011, I have had the chance to work with adults with various needs and challenges. I have supported clients to work through relationship difficulties, repetitive patterns that were no longer serving them, anxiety, depression, painful emotions related to present or past events (including traumas), self-esteem issues, grief and loss, and adjustment to chronic illness.

The human experience, while shared, can sometimes feel lonely and isolating. I am a trauma-informed, anti-oppression centered therapist, who has worked with people who are experiencing difficult life circumstances. We can work on depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, confusion about life direction, motivation and relationships. Working together, we can problem-solve and build capacity towards coping with difficulties. I am person-centered, and use psychodynamic, and somatic approaches to help you meet your goals.

To your heart, body, and soul. I invite you to explore the inner life that is waiting for you with creativity and imagination, strengthening your inner resources, as well as connecting with yourself and your community. Art therapy involves creation and exploration through artistic media with an art therapist. It enables the creative expression of emotions, awareness, and self-discovery in a safe and welcoming space. It can help you explore and connect with your true self. When emotions are overwhelming, art becomes a space where you can settle down, unravel, and reweave the meaning of your experience. No talent needed to benefit.

I help my clients by working with them to develop a genuine and meaningful relationship that can unfold, modify and heal the unconscious imprints left by old, negative patterns of relating. Our work together will explore your experiences, feelings, and imagination, reflecting both a narrative process and also an intuitive one which deepens as we develop understanding through authenticity, sharing, and trust.

People seek help for specific reasons such as eating disorders, psycho-somatic conditions, obsessional behaviour, or phobic anxieties. At other times help is sought because of more general underlying feelings of depression or anxiety, difficulties in concentrating, dissatisfaction in work or inability to form satisfactory relationships. We believe in a mind-body connection so that improvements in psychological well-being translate into physical vitality. The benefits of our psychotherapy and counselling work include self-insight, inner fulfillment, raised self-esteem, a positive outlook and improved relationships.

There are points in all our lives when we need outside help. Understanding your emotions and behaviors that are informed by past experiences and negatively affect your self-esteem and relationships with others is challenging. Often we want to change but don't know how. Developing a therapeutic alliance where you feel safe expressing and exploring all the parts of yourself- the good & the bad, is a valuable gift you can give to yourself. I value helping clients to explore the complexity of their beings, process pain, and use their struggles as opportunities for personal awakening and change.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are certified by one of the main professional associations, mainly the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will have a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation with their name. Social Workers listed in the directory must be registered members of the college specific to their province. To be listed in the directory, Psychologists must be registered with the psychological college specific to their province or territory.
Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given the considerable variation in professional regulation and prerequisites across Canadian provinces, some providers may possess significant professional qualifications without necessarily holding professional memberships or being obliged to acquire them. As a result, they may be selectively included without the "Verified" seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Canada.
Psychologists have a master's and/or doctoral degree and have passed both written and oral exams. Psychologists are able to complete mental health assessments and provide diagnostic information to clients as well as provide counselling therapy or psychotherapy. Counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have a master's or doctoral degree in counselling psychology, social work, or a related mental health discipline and certification by a professional association, such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Registered Social Workers possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work and where possible must be licensed or certified by the provincial government and/or regulatory college.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, the cost of a therapy session in Canada could be between $100 and $200. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. Some types of outpatient mental health services are covered by Medicare, provided these are performed by a licensed mental health professional in the provinces or territory you reside in and who accepts the assignment.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postal code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Professionals licensed by regulatory colleges and those certified by associations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association are obligated to uphold client confidentiality unless there is a legal reason that requires them to disclose information. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others, or a court order, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
