Hi, my name is Lynsey and I would like to help support you in this difficult time. Sometimes we go through life at such a fast pace that we ignore our underlying feelings and this can sometimes cause us upset and frustration. I wonder if you are Living a life with uncomfortable feelings and not knowing how to process them which can be holding you back from a more fulfilled life, are you finding it hard to understand yourself or Maybe you have felt things are too much right now and have a lot going on in your head. We get bogged down sometimes and tend to push our emotions to one side, which can lead to unwanted behaviour.

I have extensive experience working as a therapist both in person and online. I work with client´s with specific issues like anxiety and PTSD but also with client who struggle to feel empty as if life lacks moments of happiness or fulfilment. Often it is helpful to understand our current difficulties through exploring past experiences and how they may have impacted upon us. Some people prefer not to think too much about the past, rather focus on managing the day to day. Everyone is different and part of the process is working out what feels most helpful for you.

Often children show through their behaviour that they are in need of extra support. Play and creative arts are a child’s natural way of expressing themselves and the child can make sense of what is going on in their lives through this. I support children who are dealing with a range of difficulties for example bereavement, anxiety, anger, bullying or parental separation- for example domestic abuse or divorce. At Apex House in Lutterworth, I create a warm and welcoming environment where children feel safe and are able to express how they are feeling, this may be consciously or unconsciously.

Hi I'm Tash and I'm a fully qualified and accredited Play Therapist & Filali Play Coach. Play is a child's natural language: it speaks the worries and feelings too confusing for words. Where adults may speak about their worries and problems, children can express themselves through play long before they can articulate thoughts and feelings through the complexities of language. Often they do not know the words to describe their internal world but are ready to share it with opportunities through play and creative arts. Play builds trust, tells stories and takes us on brave adventures to wonderful places of safety, hope and happiness.

People turn to therapy for a variety of reasons, but usually when they are experiencing distress. They might be struggling with challenging symptoms, lack of self worth or a sense of meaningless in life. Therapy is a space to look at your unique story, and how you can move forward. I've worked with survivors of trauma, oppression, and those feeling lost or stuck. I aim to meet you where you are, then we can work out where you need to be going together. Everyones therapy journey is unique.

Parenting Counsellors

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
