All of us, at times, can find life a bit tough. Whether its events that we are struggling with in the here and now or past issues that are still holding us back. Sometimes we can feel "stuck" in life and struggle to decide which road to take, having the space to talk through your problems confidentially with an understanding, non-judgmental and empathic professional can prove invaluable. Whether you are an individual or a couple who would like to improve your relationship, having a safe haven where you can explore the past and work towards a brighter future can make all the difference to your quality of life.

I am an Integrative counsellor and psychotherapist working with couples and individuals. I draw from a range of different ways of working that fits your needs, including EMDR if you're experiencing PTSD. It can feel daunting approaching someone to talk to about the problems you are experiencing. At some point in our lives we all experience distressing events, difficult feelings or relationships and a little support at those times can go a long way. Whatever you’re experiencing, you don’t have to face it alone.

It takes great courage to consider therapy and I have deep admiration for you doing so. My personal experience of therapy has shown me how important it is to find the right counsellor, and I hope after reading more about my approach and what I can support you with, helps you decide if I’m the therapist you would like alongside you. You may be considering therapy to explore issues, thoughts and feelings that are currently causing concern and distress. Not limited to, but issues such as bereavement, relationships, employment, anger, addiction, family conflict, self esteem, etc.

Thank you for looking at my profile. I know that taking the first steps towards accessing talking therapy can be nerve-wracking and overwhelming. I aim to offer clients a welcoming, safe space in which they can explore their feelings without feeling judged. In this space we can work together to make some sense of how your world is and how you might like to change things, to feel happier, more fulfilled, safer, less overwhelmed or something else. I initially suggest 2 assessment sessions where you can gauge whether I feel like the right person for you to work with and I can assess whether I have the appropriate skills to help you.

I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who has worked exclusively in the area of adult Autism (previously known as Asperger’s syndrome) and ADHD for over 20 years, both in the NHS and in private practice. People I see pursue an assessment as they are experiencing difficulties in their lives and wonder if it may be due to Autism and / or ADHD. I complete comprehensive, detailed diagnostic assessments which provide understanding and meaning and help people find ways to manage areas they are struggling with.

Hello and welcome. There may be a number of reasons for seeking counselling and sometimes the reasons might not be completely clear. That is ok, we will work together to better understand what is going on. Deciding to start sessions can be difficult and it is vital to me that you feel comfortable and respected in your Individual journey. Therapy can increase self-awareness as well facilitate an environment for growth and change. It also may be a place for you to process life experiences and events, including the past and present.

At times it’s natural to feel overwhelmed and stressed out by life. That can create deep sadness, despair or loss of hope resulting in depression. Feeling fearful and anxious about life and the future can feel too much to cope with and have a really profound affect on everyday life. Sometimes it is recent events that are causing you to feel that you are really struggling while at other times those difficulties are linked to childhood neglect, trauma or abuse. Sometimes how you feel about yourself can result in a lack of confidence or low self esteem which can impact on your ability to feel at peace in the world and in relationship.

People choose to have counselling for many reasons. Sometimes we may know the cause but feel stuck with emotions that we can’t seem to change or we can’t understand why we have felt this way for this long. Sometimes there doesn’t seem to be an obvious explanation for how we feel. We may have feelings of low moods, anxiety or feeling overwhelmed but we just can’t put a finger on why. We may also feel isolated or alone in this and that other people wouldn’t understand. Talking through these feelings with a therapist can help to explore these thoughts and feelings to better understand the causes, and explore ways to work through them.

Life can be hard. Sometimes events happen beyond our control, these could include financial worries, experiences of loss, health concerns, relationship issues or work stress. Maybe some difficulties are longer standing from early childhood issues, abuse, trauma or living with life changing, life limiting or long term conditions.

If you are reading this I wonder if life feels difficult at the moment. Perhaps you are feeling anxious, depressed, living with the distress of uncertainty? Finding it difficult to let go of control, of perfectionism, feeling vulnerable or struggling with living in a ‘never enough’ world? Is this having a negative effect on your relationships, or are you struggling to understand traumatic events in your past, and you can no longer soldier on as before? However you may be feeling, it can feel really scary to come and talk to a counsellor. But I respect your courage to reach out, and I will listen to you with warmth and empathy.
