I am experienced in working with anxiety, depression, stress, relationships, low self esteem and grief&loss within different settings, including Education, Hospice and Private Practice on a one to one basis.
I offer a confidential, warm and supportive environment, so that you may feel comfortable enough to explore what has brought you to counselling. Together we work, at your pace, with what is informing your emotions and responses so that awareness, understanding and change may happen. Conflict within ourselves or in a relationship with others can leave us with a lack of clarity, feeling confused, sometimes anxious and depressed. Loss can leave us overwhelmed. Working with our past and present experiences can enable us to live our life in an authentic and fulfilling way, one which is right for us and a new way of being can be found.

I work holistically and adapt my approach based on the client I have in front of me.

If your feeling distressed, anxious, low, upset, confused, bereaved, and/or in pain then I would like to help you feel better, because feeling that way is just awful. Often talking things through with someone who has a good listening ear and other skills can help you figure things out more thoroughly and that can help YOU feel better about yourself. We are all complex individuals and at times in our lives, talking to someone can really help. Always know that your thoughts and feelings are just as important as anyone else's. Its about how you really ' feel on the inside'. Feel free to contact me to see if talking to me can help you.

Therapy is a journey. We can choose to ignore that part of us that hopes for more in life and in many ways that's the easier option. The therapeutic journey is not easy. It can be extremely painful at times, but it can also help us to live again. Since you are reading this there is part of you that wants change, that wants to live in the way you once imagined. It's not too late. I can't give you the answers you are looking for, you have those. I can help you to connect more to yourself, which might mean working through some painful parts of your story. It won't be easy, but I will stay with you, as long as it takes.

Are you fed up with battling anxiety, does it sometimes feel like you’ve tried just about everything to sort it out but still it rises up almost out of nowhere? I can help you understand why you’re feeling anxious and learn how to manage your anxiety so that you can go on to live a life with more contentment. Anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem are all issues that can seem so isolating and unmanageable but when we allow ourselves to talk about what we’re going through, we can start to heal.

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
