My counselling approach combines aspects of Person Centred Therapy, Transactional Analysis and Psychodynamic Therapy. As a counsellor my job is to help you to both make sense of what is happening to you and to find a way to live with the challenges you are facing. I strongly believe that the best way to do this is to create a safe relationship where you don’t feel judged and can explore all of your feelings. Everyone needs a little support every now and again navigating life’s challenges. Having a therapeutic space to reflect, consider and gain perspective on all of our difficulties, can be enormously beneficial in improving our relationships and overall quality of life. Following one's passions and values is a far more preferable way of living rather than existing to avoid our fears.

"Dianne helped my husband and I bridge seemingly impossible gaps in our understanding of each other and ability to communicate despite considerable differences. Dianne took us from a place where we encountered apparently unresolvable emotional blockages daily, from a place of frustration and chronic misunderstanding to a place where we were able to appreciate each other's feelings and show love to one another increasingly unreservedly. She was skilfully professional, without ever faltering in compassion or humanity. She has given us the tools we needed to succeed in our marriage and we are hugely grateful for her help. " Annon

Client's will be able to understand the historical and systemic influences to their problems and to find ways to create change both for themselves and others that they associate with. Many of my client's also have unresolved trauma that influences their day to day interactions, relationships, psychological state and/or physical health. They would hope to be able to make sense of both their mood and beliefs but to also be able to find ways to reprocess or clear any related trauma, make sense of associated anxiety, stress, behaviours and negative beliefs, to find ways to manage, think and behave differently and find new strengths.

Life can be very challenging and difficult at times and it could leave us feeling powerless or without a control. At those times I believe that being fully heard in an accepting environment can be very healing. In our counselling sessions I will aim to develop a trusting, confidential and save space where you can say the “unsayable” and to open the “unopenable” which can support you in finding clarity and inner peace. From my experience as a counsellor and from the experience of my clients, I appreciate that this explorative journey may feel challenging or emotional at times. I will endeavour to ‘walk on this journey alongside you’.

Life can have many aspects and there can be parts that we feel we would could benefit from support with. Whether there is a specific issue, things feel a little 'stuck', or parts of you aren't feeling as they used to, we can unpick what feels appropriate to at any given moment. Through therapy we can support the growth of self-awareness, explore what may be feeling unsaid and find your own path through whatever is present for you. It may be relational issues, loss, trauma, self-identity or simply a sense of not feeling exactly where you wish to be. We can take time to examine where your journey leads next.

I provide therapeutic space for you to reflect, think about and explore difficulties without judgement. Sometimes we can have an idea about what we are struggling with, sometimes we are less sure. Accessing therapy can help us to understand ourselves and give meaning to that which leaves us feeling stuck. Sometimes things that are happening in the here and now can bring up feelings that we have experienced in the past that we may or may not be aware of. This may create discomfort, pain, distress, anxiety, depression and overwhelm. People often describe feeling empty, in darkness, alone, lacking energy and feeling frightened.
