I offer one-to one Psychodynamic, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. This is a well established and evidence-based talking therapy that can effectively treat emotional problems as well as a wide range of mental health conditions including: anxiety, depression and eating disorders. Sessions are booked for the same time every week and range from single to up to three sessions a week. They provide the space to talk about and reflect upon your emotional and relationship difficulties. These are thought about as they relate to your present circumstances but in this type of therapy, they are also considered in relation to your life history.
Our minds are complex and we all experience contrasting emotions that may feel overwhelming at times. You may be seeking help for a specific reason such as gaining greater understanding of your eating disorder, obsessional behaviour, substance misuse or debilitating phobia. Alternatively, you may suffer from entrenched feelings of depression or anxiety.
The approach I offer after initial assessment is to think about the patterns of behaviour that you adopt to cope with difficult feelings, or certain states of mind. We will work together to comprehend the full extent of how your past has shaped the person you are, as well as your current feelings, relationships and lifestyle behaviours.
