I am a senior, HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist with over ten years experience of working within the NHS. Early experiences can shape our present but they don’t have to dictate our future. I want to help you develop insight into how you may have found yourself here and to explore with you how you would like your life to look and how you would like to move forward. Unconscious patterns of relating can play a pivotal role in distress within relationships and psychological therapy can throw light on its roots and what may be underpinning and maintaining these difficulties.

Sometimes we can feel unhappy but not know why, or maybe we know why but feel unable to change. We may have physical symptoms but suspect that psychological factors underlie them. We might recognise behaviours in ourselves that may obstruct our capacity to work, or make and maintain relationships. Or we may have doubts about ourselves, an underlying feeling that we are not getting the most from life. Whatever the issue, talking can help make your problems clearer, enabling you to understand and resolve them better.

It is really important to find the right therapist for you. At some point in our lives, most of us need an opportunity to share, explore, understand and accept our individual life experiences. Counselling can offer you that opportunity. I believe that there is nothing too big or too small to bring you to therapy. Sometimes our days are consumed managing the day to day and we often find it difficult to address the real issues. Therapy gives you the space to look at it all.

I provide a safe, confidential and supportive space. Anything that may be difficult for you to say, I will not find difficult to hear. We will work together to unravel where you are now and how you may have got there. By sharing this, we can find space to really think about what's going on and to see if we are able to find a happier, healthier way of moving forwards. Whether working with adults or children, gaining trust is something I will do my best to work towards and earn. My practice rooms are in Cheltenham (Gloucestershire), Richmond upon Thames (London) and from the comfort of your own home (Online).

My Background I worked in the corporate sector for 25 years, running my own recruitment business and deriving great satisfaction from the challenge of this industry. However, over time, I noticed how people can end up feeling trapped, overburdened by mental health issues that they didn’t feel they could communicate to others. I also struggled in my own way, which is what led me to learn as much as possible about personal development – a journey that began in 1993. Since then, I have always wanted to dedicate myself to educating those experiencing the same issues and supporting them manage their well-being more effectively. As

Being unable to see a way forward and feeling trapped in your own life can lead to anxiety, stress and depression. I believe trust is the most important thing in therapy, and once established, with your consent, I will be there with you at every step of your journey out of darkness and into a brighter future. Personal therapy will allow you to take stock of your life and start questioning who you are and what you want in order to move towards a better place. Taking that journey through the therapeutic process, you will discover that although life happens out there, it is how we respond to what happens that ultimately defines us.

I firmly believe that we are fundamentally relational beings, ones that need security, understanding & care above all else. Real change comes not from trying to fix thinking patterns, self-concepts or the past, but in shifting relational dynamics in the here and now and finding new ways of being with another. This is what I focus on in therapy with my clients, and I draw on my background and experience in modern relational psychoanalysis, developmental theory, and in depth study of phenomenology & existential philosophy to look at what emerges and how that can inform meaningful change in your life.

Many people seek counselling for varying reasons, usually because of issues faced in our daily life which feel challenging or uncomfortable. We may feel stuck, sad, low or confused by an issue happening now or in the past. Perhaps relationships with family, friends or work colleagues feel difficult and awkward to navigate but you don’t quite know the reasons why.

Hi there! I am Amber, the Director of Healthy Mind Psychology. We aim to be a different type of practice. Our focus includes work with those people trying to cope with all the stresses and strains of unprecedented times upon us. But many struggle with issues outside of the normal narrative of mental health, or physical health too. Our practice aims to explain the stress response (whether that be from overdue bills, a critical family system, a harsh workplace, current or previous traumas, or a host of other things!) and the science behind how the mind/body interact to create physical symptoms, emotional distress, or bad habits!
