At certain times in our lives, we all need support. I aim to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where I will work closely with you to explore feelings which are holding you back or causing difficulty in day-to-day life. Being properly heard will allow you to find answers and together we will find a way forward. I trained as a Person-Centred Counsellor at the University of Strathclyde from 1995-7. After working purely in counselling for 2 years, I went on to train as a teacher and have worked in education for 24 years. My background naturally led me into the role of Guidance Teacher. I returned to one-to-one counselling in 2022.
I have found that life experience has opened many doors, in the way I work with clients. I aim to be flexible in approach according to what best fits an individual’s needs. At the heart of all my work, lies the strong belief that the most important factor in facilitating change is the development of a relationship involving trust, honesty and empathy.
I work with all age groups (12 yrs+) and have experience in working with people from all walks of life, with a diverse range of problems or issues. I specialise in working with teenagers - modern life has hit our young people particularly hard and I aim to help them navigate through mental health issues and the complexities of day-to-day to life.
