Osas Iyamu Usideme is originally from Nigeria and came to Ireland in 2003 as an Asylum Seeker. She began life in a Direct Provision Centre herself, giving her first-hand experience of the health issues that arise for other displaced people like her. While living in the Direct Provision Centre, Osas began an epic educational journey. These started with a distance learning course—Certificate in Child Psychology with the School of Practical Childcare, Blackrock, Dublin. Her resilience and commitment have enabled her to eventually achieve a Degree in Psychology with WIT, and an MSc in App Psy in MH withUlster University, Derry.
Osas is a respected advocate and speaker of health and human rights for other displaced women and families today. Currently working with Protection Applicants (Refugees/Asylum Seekers) and Migrant families concerning Health (Mental, Physical & Emotional) and vulnerable people in the general public.
