I provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, diagnostic studies, and individual treatment recommendations for clients ranging from teens to older adulthood. My prior work in primary care, psychiatric residency training, and current experience at the Cedar Oaks Clinic has allowed me to work with adolescents, young adults, older adults, and veterans to manage a variety of psychiatric conditions.

I am a double board-certified psychiatrist with extensive training in psychosomatic medicine allowing me to take into account one’s mental and physical health to provide a whole-body approach to treatment. I treat a wide array of conditions; however focus on issues with depression, anxiety and role transitions. My mission is to collaborate with you, and to come up with an individualized treatment plan. By doing so, I will be able to gain a greater understanding of your life experience and help you achieve your treatment goals.

After graduating with a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from Eastern Virginia Medical School, Kate spent years working in Emergency Medicine treating patients from all backgrounds and life experiences during some of their darkest moments. She is motivated by empathy and a deep understanding of the significance of mental health. She envisions a career devoted to breaking down stigmas surrounding mental health, promoting awareness, and implementing effective therapeutic interventions to empower individuals on their journey towards mental wellness.

Dr. Reid is a board-certified adult psychiatrist with over 20 years of clinical experience. She completed medical school at the University of South Carolina and Residency in Psychiatry at University of North Carolina Hospitals. Dr. Reid feels that the field of Psychiatry is unique in that it requires a collaborative, whole person approach to Medical care. She has always enjoyed this aspect of being a Psychiatrist, spending time getting to know patients, unfolding and understanding together the complex interplay of medical and Psychosocial events that create the symptoms we focus on in treatment.

I am a board-certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist in private practice in Asheville, NC and on faculty at the Yale Child Study Center in New Haven, CT. I provide therapy as well as medication management, when necessary. The primary modalities I use with clients are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. One of my biggest passions is providing excellent resources to supplement therapy, so clients feel well-versed in their treatment and realize they are not the only ones going through these struggles. I am licensed in NC and VA and run an all virtual practice so I can see clients who live in these two states. I will very soon take BCBS in NC only, I take United, Aetna, Optum, Oscar, Cigna, Oxford in both states and I also take cash pay and sliding scale patients in both states. I do not take Medicaid or Medicare currently. I enjoy helping clients improve their day-to-day functioning with medications, brief counseling, psycho-education and holistic solutions. I have 20 years of sole, successful, clinical experience treating a diverse patient population. I look forward to helping as best I can.

ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS I am a Board Certified Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management for children, adolescents and adults with mental health concerns and substance abuse.

My clients often face complex mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, brain injury, sleep disorders, and ADHD. Many also struggle with weight management and the psychological factors associated with it, including emotional eating and stress.
