Looking for a more active and experiential approach to therapy? Working with children, adolescents, adults and families I use horses as part of a treatment modality for issues such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, autism spectrum disorders, oppositional disorders, and adolescent issues. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is highly active and quickly engages even clients who have become disillusioned with more traditional therapeutic approaches. Horses and activites are combined to help clients recognize their typical approach to problems, what may or may not be working, and how to move forward.

Is your daughter struggling to get through life’s challenges? Have you noticed that she has been distant, down, or more anxious than usual? She may be fed up with not understanding why she feels the way she does, worrying all the time, or feeling disconnected from friends & family. She may not even remember a time things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure; she’s ready for some relief. She’s ready to feel normal and happy again. Most of all, you are ready to see your daughter become her true self again so she can thrive in life.

I am a counselor who works with kids and teens. I specialize in anxiety and depression, and have a beautiful farm that is relaxing and fun - making it an ideal location to help kids feel comfortable and open to discuss what is happening in their lives. We can walk around with the mini goats and donkeys while digging in to what is bothering them and working on strategies to help with coping in today's often difficult world.

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I provide a safe, judgement-free space for individuals of all ages to grow. I will partner with you to better understand and overcome the obstacles preventing you from having the life you desire. While I now specialize in working with adolescents and adults, my 10 plus years of working with children has given me a unique perspective on the impact early experiences have on our mental and emotional needs. This includes the impact of early childhood trauma and family dynamics. I believe we are deeply impacted by the stories we have about ourselves and our life experiences.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, with a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. I specialize in individual, couples and family therapy with mental health diagnoses as well as relational conflicts. I strongly believe that family is the fundamental yet the most important and influential factor for each individual's physical and emotional well being. I have witnessed many individuals broken and wounded because of their dysfunctional family systems and lack of courage to seek out the help they need when they needed.

Hope is what carries us forward in life. We need it to feel like there's a purpose for living. I work with individuals who deal with depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem concerns, relational problems, existential issues, cultural issues, and other mental health issues. I believe that the therapeutic relationship can be the starting place where hope is restored. Through the therapeutic relationship, I believe that people can start to trust, accept, and love who they are, and as a result, change the outlook and circumstances of their lives. We can do this together; you do not need to be alone while you are struggling.

Welcome! Figuring out life in your twenties and thirties can be a challenge. You're facing some major life decisions and may need some support as you find your way forward. Some past experiences with friends, family, and romantic partners may be causing depression or anxiety. Add ADHD or trauma to the mix and things can get really complicated! We can work together toward greater confidence, healing and freedom. And I firmly believe that diving into deep issues doesn’t need to feel heavy all of the time. If you would welcome a little bit of humor, sarcasm or healthy cynicism from your therapist, we could be a great fit!

Many of us seek therapy at different periods of our lives for different reasons, such as couple and family conflicts, losing loved ones, life transition issues, addiction, sadness, anxiety, and depression. We sometimes may not figure out what we are going through. Unknowns and uncertainties may increase in our lives and become unmanageable, or we are unable to fulfill our search for meaning. Therapy helps us cope with difficult and painful emotions, figure out what we are going through, and name it. Carl Rogers defines growth as any kind of movement toward “self-esteem, flexibility, or respect and compassion for self and others."

I love helping caregivers understand the meaning behind challenging behaviors. From there, we can use that information to improve relationships and build important skills such as communication, positive self-esteem and independence. I focus on family dynamics and environmental factors when addressing each individual, with the aim to improve the lives of each family member.

When someone comes for psychotherapy its because of emotional pain that feels unbearable. Everyone has blindspots, and a crisis can be growth producing when caring, understanding, and respect are offered during vulnerable times of life. To my way of thinking, by strengthening self- awareness of the depth and breadth of the intricacies of one's own emotions and thoughts, there is tremendous help in facing the challenges of living. As psychotherapy continues past a beginning point, discoveries and learning occur through a joint effort, gathering a fuller appreciation of the events in life that have led to a crucial point.

As a clinical psychologist with over 30 years of experience, I enjoy working with anyone seeking relief from the inevitable sufferings of life, e.g., depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, physical pain, relationship difficulties. I passionately believe you can learn to cultivate positive emotions and authentic happiness, regardless of your circumstances. My work is based on the following principles: (1) the process of healing always takes place in the context of a relationship, (2) that relationship is ideally characterized by trust, support and validation of your experience, and (3) you are not the problem, the “problem” is the problem.

Welcome! My hope is that working with me feels like a warm embrace, and a safe space to be present with who you are right now. My style of therapy is collaborative, strength focused, and centered around what makes you unique. I want you to feel confident that you really can free yourself from anxiety, fear, depression, and the unknown. I specialize in working with clients who are burnt out, anxious, seeking change, and are going through life transitions. This may look like feeling successful on paper, but lacking personal fulfillment, it could also look like perfectionism that has become exhausting, or even challenges communicating.

On the outside you appear to have a great life. Meanwhile, internally you feel empty, hopeless, on edge, excessive worrying, and an inability to create balance in all areas of your life. You’re probably exhausted from attempting to tackle these uncomfortable feelings day after day to no avail. It’s almost as if the harder you try to feel at peace or content with yourself you sink deeper into feeling you’re just not good enough or a failure. You’ve possibly wondered if there is something wrong with you.

How can I find a therapist in 98296?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
