Choosing the right therapist is at least as important as the decision to enter treatment. Self-disclosure and, ultimately change can only occur in an environment in which the patient feels respected, safe, and secure in both the therapist's sincerity and expertise.
I bring the maturity, skill and compassion derived from 20+ years of providing therapy for depression and other mood disorders, anxiety, eating disorders, and relationship issues. I am committed to helping my patients recognize and change painful patterns that keep them from fully engaging in healthy relationships, or leave them mired in self-defeating thoughts and behaviors.
While I have extensive training in multiple treatment models, including psychodynamic psychotherapy and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), I am flexible in my approach and guided at all times by what would be the most effective treatment for each individual.
I am described as a kind, welcoming, and thoughtful clinician with a sense of humor and a highly interactive style.
In addition to private practice, I have taught psychotherapy and personality assessment at the University of Maryland. I have also presented and published numerous papers on depression, eating disorders and women's issues.
