Therapy is a time of challenge and change, sorrow and celebration. I strive to provide a climate in which my clients can truly explore themselves and their world. Regardless of technique, I believe that the greatest strength in treatment lies in a meaningful relationship between client and therapist.

I provide counseling to individuals 14 years +, couples, and families who want to improve their connection with self and those they are in relation to. I believe that family systems, our relationships, how we see and what we expect of ourselves and others, are at the core of our "issues". It is our relationship to our "issues" and not the "issue" itself, that causes us difficulties in our every day life. I will work beside you as you uncover your authentic self and realize that your connection with others will be the loving, caring, respectful relationships that we all desire.

Unbecoming and becoming. In my strong opinion this is what therapy is about. For many people it is difficult to get through childhood unscathed. Unfortunately, traumatic experiences are a part of life. Through these wounds, we create masks and walls within us, and acquire unhealthy and unhelpful coping skills, keeping us chained to our past. Our childhood experiences, whether we remember them or not, are interwoven into the fabric of our being and how we live our lives and do relationships. Every person needs and deserves to be seen, heard, understood, and gotten, which leads to love, acceptance, and connection.

How do you want your storybook to read? Life is a chapter book, filled with many experiences that change our landscape and how we view the world. We close chapters and open new ones throughout the trajectory of life. Sometimes you may feel like you’re slipping, or just holding on. Other times you may feel as if you’re soaring high above the mountains. Whatever chapter you're writing today, it’s okay to be where you are. How do you want your next page to read? Are you ready to take back control of whatever is holding onto you and change your landscape?

Life circumstances can become unpredictable and difficult to cope with. Therapy is about learning effective strategies to help alleviate the feelings of becoming overwhelmed. Listening with empathy and genuine regard is my approach to helping individuals I interact with and teaching them evidence- based therapeutic interventions. Trauma and depression are emotions that can lead to physical and spiritual ailments. I believe in holistically healing a person and would love the opportunity to help you!

My ideal client would be any person that is in need of someone to talk to. They want to feel heard and understood. They have an idea of what they would like to talk about and what they would to see for their own future. Even if they are one hundred percent sure what they want, they are willing to talk about it. Also I think that it is important to be open to the idea that therapy can be fun!

Ever feel like you're on a constant mental treadmill? You try to focus, but tasks take forever. Sleep feels like a luxury. Your home is a disaster zone, and arguments with loved ones leave you drained. The inner critic is on repeat, blasting you with guilt about "shoulds" and "could-have-beens." Maybe you're forgetful, restless, or easily overwhelmed. Work feels impossible to manage, relationships are difficult and you wonder if you'll ever get it "together." If you suspect ADHD is holding you back, you're not alone. Many adults with ADHD share these experiences. But with the right support, you can unlock your full potential.

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
