I enjoy a respectful relationship with various Family Court Judges who value my feedback in determining custody concerns.
Many of the clients that walk through my door may be similar to you: frustrated at the court system, wanting more time with their children, having overwhelming difficulties in dealing with an ex partner. My approach, has been and continues to be to focus on what is in the best interest of the child. I bring my years of experience in assessing families, mediating requests, and getting real action outcomes for the child(ren) involved.

Trouble communicating with your teen? Unable to break the cycle of arguments with your partner? Overwhelmed and not sure why? Our interactions with the world are shaped by our families and the broader cultures that surround us as we grow up. As an adult, you might find that those patterns no longer work for you, or get in the way of your having fulfilling relationships with your spouse or children.

If you're ready to improve your relationship, call me today to schedule a free 20-min consult! I would love to hear about what is bringing you into therapy, what you want to work on, and answer any questions you may have about the process.
Have your attempts to create a better relationship left you feeling more disconnected than before? Those trusted ideas from Instagram and TikTok reels, the blogs found through Googling "ways to improve my relationship," and attempts to try talking to your partner about relationship frustrations just aren't helping. The difference between a conversation and conflict feels blurred, and it's almost expected that talking about hard topics will lead to misunderstandings. Having conversations that lead to connection versus loneliness takes skills - ones that no one has probably ever taught you before. What could those skills even be?

I resource over 15 years of experience as a Licensed Counselor and evidence-based practices: Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and Gottman Couples Therapy.
You are a woman with tremendous strength. You manage the lives of others and keep track of so much. And though there can be moments of great reward, you are tired and notice that in caring for others, some of the most important parts of YOU feel lost. You may not feel as confident or positive as you once did. You may notice that relationships are strained. Work is suffering. You feel stressed, distracted, exhausted. It is time to access resources to help lift you back onto your feet so that you can reconnect with yourself and others.

Traumatic experiences, relationship attachment woundings and the general pressure to conform to social norms during our younger years can cause us to create some truly magnificent coping strategies. Unfortunately, these strategies can be integrated into our identity long after they've stopped serving their purpose. I am passionate about supporting people reconnect with their true nature, by exploring parts work and somatic experiencing. Our past does not define us, and this work makes it possible to access the inspired, motivated, wisdom that exists in abundance underneath our conditioning.

I endeavor to create a therapeutic relationship based on respect, compassion, and authenticity.
I believe that people are resilient and resourceful, capable of overcoming difficulties. Sometimes we get entangled in personal and relational patterns that can overwhelm our resources. I help clients identify these problematic patterns and empower them to break free from patterns that do not serve them well. I focus on my client's interpersonal relationships and relationships with larger social systems. I have experience working with children, teens, families, and couples on several issues, including family and couple distress, trauma, and various presentations of anxiety and depression through a systemic and attachment-based lens.

I understand not every therapist is a good fit, but I take priority in building a strong relationship with each of my clients.
I currently have immediate openings for both telehealth and in-person! I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to explore what's going on in your life, including uncomfortable emotions, relationship issues, and past experiences. I am empathic and open-minded, allowing each person to share their unique self in therapy. Therapy can be challenging and emotional, and together we can set goals that move you towards healing and self-improvement. I take a holistic approach to therapy, with an emphasis on your biological needs (exercise, sleep, nutrition, physical illness, etc). Therapy may be short-term or long-term.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
